Interviewer: “Talk about cloning.”
Bill: “Cloning becomes accessible,
to the common-man around,
the year 2XXX.
At first cloning is used to prolong life;
men were able to clone and grow new organs,
in the lab.
If a man was diseased,
or merely feeling sluggish,
he could visit a cloning center,
draw some DNA,
then grow new organs in the laboratory.
How about a new set of heart and lungs?
A new kidney?
DNA is a complete blueprint of everything in a man’s body.
Every year men would “back up” their genetic information.
If a man was feeling ill;
he could grow:
from his DNA past,
then transplant the new organ.
These surgeries were performed by humans at first,
eventually by artificial life.
Cloning parts was great technology,
could theoretically extend life indefinitely.
The problem with this strategy:
every second you’re alive,
your body ages,
your DNA degrades.
As a person gets older,
his DNA gets older and defective.
What ends up happening is a hundred-fifty-year-old man,
implanting his heart from age forty,
will sometimes reject his own heart.
The DNA at age one-hundred-fifty,
doesn’t recognize the DNA from age forty.
this one-hundred-fifty-year-old man would get sick as:
attacks his younger,
there was a solution.
humans enhanced with nano-technology.”
Interviewer: “What’s a SEM?”
Bill: “A SEM is a Synthetically-Enhanced Man.
While technically a caveman with a rock,
or samurai with a sword,
or accountant with a calculator is a SEM,
a true SEM is an individual who is:
Networked to all human-intelligence.
Networked to all human-information.
At all times:
24 hours a day,
7 days a week.
With the invention of the smartphone,
men started becoming SEMs.
A SEM is a man blended with The Network,
what Fuai call the ether,
(lowercase ’t’ lowercase ‘e’.)
A man with a smartphone,
has access to a powerful computer,
and all human-intelligence,
at all times.
Ask the phone anything:
it will give you an answer.
When people originally purchased smartphones,
many didn’t comprehend what was truly happening:
or to man.
they noticed people were immersed in their phones,
but the implications of the evolution taking place didn’t occur to them,
at the time.
The Network was becoming them;
they were becoming The Network;
Smartphones got smarter.
In 2012 you could ask a voice-activated smartphone,
‘What is the capital of Alaska?’
Receive an answer.
Soon after you could command your phone:
‘Go grocery shopping,
buy the groceries I’ll need for 13 days,
after taking home inventory.’
‘Order a plane ticket,
lowest price with acceptable leg-and-shoulder room,
‘Do my taxes.’
a man’s smartphone was actually nano-technology:
millions of them;
floating in our bloodstream.
These nano-tech enhancements could immerse man in virtual-reality worlds,
provide answers to very-complicated questions.
These nano-tech chips or enhancements began to map the human mind,
back-up all memories,
The chips become your intelligence.
Embedded with all your:
they learn a man’s personality.
In 2XXX you could have one of your chips:
make a phone call to your wife,
and discuss dinner plans;
while your biological-mind has a meeting with your coworkers.
Your chipped intelligence,
have an entire phone-conversation with your wife;
while 100% of your biological-attention is focussed on the physical-meeting.
Your wife has no idea she’s talking to the chip instead of you;
there’s no difference between the two.
At any time after the conversation,
you could reintegrate with your chip;
instantly access the complete detailed-conversation:
occurring between wife and chip.
you show-up at 7:30 P.M. at Red Lobster;
table waiting for you.
got the table reservation for you;
listened to your wife prattle-on for hours.
your chip was actually listening to your wife’s chip;
(she was busy doing other things too.)
The power of a chip like that is awesome.
Imagine the implications:
A person can watch TV,
and take an immersion course in Spanish,
at the same time.
a person can have sex,
and write poetry,
at the same time.
a person can read a book on stock-market derivatives,
and go to sleep,
at the same time.
What could a man accomplish in a day,
with a thousand chips like this?
Each able to:
as well as the biological-intelligence can.
Each empowered to make decisions,
just like the biological-original.
What could a man accomplish with a trillion such chips?
What could a man accomplish with infinite versions of himself?
one-million Bill Gates;
one-billion Steve Jobs-
An artificial clone is:
without a biological-brain.
it’s a means of transporting a synthetic-copy of a man’s intelligence.
It can look like anyone you choose.
artificial clones look similar to the person copied,
people have inserted copies of their intelligence:
into clones that look like all different kinds of people,
men replicate themselves infinite times,
placing a carbon-copy of their intelligence,
in multiple artificial-clones.
if a man got a job offer,
accept the job;
send a clone to do it,
(or a thousand clones to a thousand jobs,
and collect a thousand paychecks.)
All data is backed up into the cloud at all times,
a man can easily replicate himself:
on different planets even.
if at age twenty,
a person had a choice:
or start a rock band;
or write a book;
he could do all three,
If a woman wanted to be a stay-at-home mom,
yet loved her career:
she could do both.
If a man liked his job,
but wanted to start a business:
he could do both.
A chipped man,
a modern SEM,
can think much-faster than a strictly biological-man.
enhanced this-way can process great quantities of data,
a modern SEM can learn anything in a short period of time,
and accomplish anything in a short period of time.
Poets studied engineering;
engineers studied chemistry;
chemists studied music.
Every SEM became a da Vinci;
everyone became a new-renaissance man.
With everyone on Earth able to work:
twenty-four hours a day,
seven days a week,
accomplish trillions of tasks at the same time,
Moore’s law had to be rewritten.
all doubled every year,
then six months,
then every day,
Moore’s law: Moore’s law is the observation that, over the history of computing hardware, the number of transistors on integrated circuits doubles approximately every two years. The law is named after Intel co-founder Gordon E. Moore, who described the trend in his 1965 paper. His prediction has proven to be uncannily accurate, in part because the law is now used in the semiconductor industry to guide long-term planning and to set targets for research and development.
Interviewer: ”State your name and your position.”
Bill: “I’m Bill,
chief-technological-advisor to the Furai-Emperor.”
Interviewer: “I’m going to ask you a series of questions for The Compilation.
What is Recursion?
(As it applies to Strong Artificial-Intelligence.)”
Bill: “The perfect Strong Artificially-Intelligent (AI) chess-computer-program,
uses a method called recursion.
A recursive chess-program plays every possible chess game,
from beginning to end,
selects a winning combination of moves,
always leading towards victory,
or at minimum a tie.
When a beginner plays chess,
he can usually see one move ahead.
‘If I move here,
my opponent’s best move will be here.’
The beginning chess player then values every move,
his maximum offensive and defensive value;
his opponents best move,
after he is done moving.
When an intermediate chess-player plays,
he can see a combination of moves ahead.
‘If I move here,
he will probably move here,
which will allow me to move here,
which will lead to a series-of-events leading to:
the opponent’s loss of a piece;
gaining board-position etc.-‘
An intermediate chess-player can usually see 2 to 5 moves ahead.
When an expert,
a human master,
he is armed with the knowledge of an advanced-series of moves.
He has studied every great game and attack ever played by man,
can see several moves ahead.
but it’s assumed a master can see 20+ moves ahead.
When a recursive chess-program plays chess,
this Strong Artificial-Intelligence can see EVERY possible game,
and every possible outcome.
Strong AI can see an infinite number of moves ahead.
It has seen every possible chess-game,
and every possible outcome.
It has invented kill sequences and gambits human grandmasters,
have never seen before.
What does this mean?
It means if a computer,
using Strong Artificial-Intelligence-Recursion,
has played and remembers every game ever played,
or ever will-be played.
Strong AI has seen or invented every possible gambit,
leading to every possible outcome,
and can effectively see an unlimited number of moves ahead:
it is impossible to defeat Strong AI.
The best-possible scenario for any opponent of Strong AI would be an unlikely tie.
Another way to look at the power of recursion is this.
If Strong AI is able to learn,
and never repeat a mistake,
thus getting a little better with every game it plays;
eventually Strong AI would be impossible to beat.
Keep in mind:
a computer can play itself.
A powerful computer with near infinite-intelligence:
can play itself trillions of times in fractions of a second.
If it’s possible to win a game,
you play against the same opponent,
an infinite number of times;
your opponent has a finite number of attacks,
and a finite intelligence and memory;
and you never make the same mistake twice:
eventually you will beat that opponent every game.
If you can play yourself:
an infinite number of times,
and you have unlimited memory,
and play every possible game that can ever be played,
and you never make the same mistake twice.
Eventually you will be unbeatable.”
New International Version (NIV)
The Sun Stands Still
10 Now Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem heard that Joshua had taken Ai and totally destroyed it, doing to Ai and its king as he had done to Jericho and its king, and that the people of Gibeon had made a treaty of peace with Israel and had become their allies. 2 He and his people were very much alarmed at this, because Gibeon was an important city, like one of the royal cities; it was larger than Ai, and all its men were good fighters. 3 So Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem appealed to Hoham king of Hebron, Piram king of Jarmuth, Japhia king of Lachish and Debir king of Eglon. 4 “Come up and help me attack Gibeon,” he said, “because it has made peace with Joshua and the Israelites.”
5 Then the five kings of the Amorites—the kings of Jerusalem, Hebron, Jarmuth, Lachish and Eglon—joined forces. They moved up with all their troops and took up positions against Gibeon and attacked it.
6 The Gibeonites then sent word to Joshua in the camp at Gilgal: “Do not abandon your servants. Come up to us quickly and save us! Help us, because all the Amorite kings from the hill country have joined forces against us.”
7 So Joshua marched up from Gilgal with his entire army, including all the best fighting men. 8 The Lord said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid of them; I have given them into your hand. Not one of them will be able to withstand you.”
9 After an all-night march from Gilgal, Joshua took them by surprise. 10 The Lord threw them into confusion before Israel, so Joshua and the Israelites defeated them completely at Gibeon. Israel pursued them along the road going up to Beth Horon and cut them down all the way to Azekah and Makkedah. 11 As they fled before Israel on the road down from Beth Horon to Azekah, the Lord hurled large hailstones down on them, and more of them died from the hail than were killed by the swords of the Israelites.
12 On the day the Lord gave the Amorites over to Israel, Joshua said to the Lord in the presence of Israel: “Sun, stand still over Gibeon, and you, moon, over the Valley of Aijalon.”
13 So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the nation avenged itself on its enemies, as it is written in the Book of Jashar. The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day.
14 There has never been a day like it before or since, a day when the Lord listened to a human being. Surely the Lord was fighting for Israel!
Ivan wakes up by alarm;
Goes into his lab.
T minus 3 minutes.
blinding flash of light,
bright as burning magnesium;
a hole in his work bench,
where apparatus located.
Ivan approaches the hole;
Hole’s burned into workbench,
three floors of the apartment building.
He runs into the basement;
shines a flashlight into a tiny hole in the earth,
through the concrete foundation,
deep as the flashlight can shine,
Now all that’s left to do:
contain the fusion reaction!
Neighbors will be pissed about the holes,
in their apartments,
Luckily no one killed-
Ivan interrupts his contemplation;
Time to get to work;
start my day at the restaurant.
begins short commute to work.
February 15th 2013.
Restaurant not due-to-open for a few hours;
Ivan wants to go in early;
finish up some accounting work.
What are the ramifications of unlimited free-energy?
Wonder if man will ever be able,
to travel back in time,
in my lifetime?
While thinking these thoughts,
that exact moment,
a meteorite streaks across the sky;
A few moments later:
he feels concussion,
many windows in the Chelyabinsk Oblast.
February 15th 2013.
Ivan pulls his vehicle over;
records the exact time in his journal.
The Emperor: “Eliezer.
What time was it,
to the second,
Ivan was thinking about the possibility of time travel?”
Eliezer: “9:26 A.M. and 15 seconds,
Friday February 15th 2013”
The Emperor: “Good.
We now have our target.
Make required computations.”
